You may be able to become a Therapeutic Foster Parent.  At SMART Child and Family Services, we help support all of the processes necessary to become involved with children.  Licensing, training, placement, support groups, a trained caseworker, mileage reimbursement and respite care are some of the benefits that we provide to help you parent some of Maine's neediest children.  You will not be alone. 

Qualifications include:

Must be 21 years or older

May be single or married

May own or rent a home

Have at least six months of work experience with children with behavioral/emotional difficulties or one year as a foster parent.
