The Mission of SMART START Child Care and Preschool is to provide accessible, affordable and quality early care and education to children while parents are working, in school or in other pursuits.  The Center employs teachers with education and experience in early childhood development, using a child-centered curriculum that helps each student prepare for primary school.

SMART START is a small state of Maine licensed child care facility, accepting children ages 2 years until 6 years old.  Located conveniently on Route 115 near the intersection of Route 302,  the center offers a child-centered curriculum that focuses on each child as an individual, while teaching the social and academic skills necessary for primary school readiness.  We have two floors of space available with centers designed for dramatic play, science, math, reading, writing, blocks, music and art.  A large, fenced-in, shaded outdoor playground allows for free play in a healthy environment.  Lunch is provided along with two snacks, juice and milk.

The center is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.  Fees are $165 per week for full-time care.  Each family at SMART START may a non-payment vacation week per year after six months of enrollment.

Our teachers, Pat Magno, Marie Armentino and Laurie Hargreaves have years of education and experience in early child development and are all CPR and First Aid trained.
